David-Horodok has been the source of inspiration for a number of authors and poets, both those born there and those paying homage to their ancestral home. As descendants, we are fortunate to have so many rich sources of information and imagination available to us.
The Yizkor book, Sefer Zikaron David-Horodok, was the first and most ambitious book to be written about David-Horodok. It was a collaborative effort by many authors to remember the town’s martyrs and to provide information about its history, economy, and Jewish life. It included sweet memories of people and activities in the town as well as horrific details about how the residents suffered there.
